Self Catering Lodge Accommodation

Ledgowan Estate is located some 40 miles west of Inverness with the Lodge just to the West of the village of Achnasheen

amidst the spectacular scenery of Wester Ross, the ideal location for exploring the North West Highlands and Skye. The

estate extends to over 12,000 acres offering excellent opportunities for walking, climbing and general summer and

winter mountaineering and within easy reach of some 30 Munros. Trout fishing on river and loch, stalking and grouse

shooting during appropriate seasons.

Accommodation

Ledgowan Lodge, a comfortable lodge with 3 log fires, within walking distance of Achnasheen, has six double rooms with

twin beds and two single rooms, a main drawing room, TV room, sun lounge and a refurbished kitchen with a new  oil

fired Aga. Some major redecoration has recently been completed. It is an ideal lodge for both sporting and holiday lets.

There is a housekeeper who cleans public rooms and bedrooms every day during sporting season.

 

 

Photography

The Estate offers excellent opportunities for photography. Wildlife, from the Red Deer,Golden Eagle to the smallest

of insects along with a rich diversity of flora and fauna are readily available. Landscapes abound with some of the

finest in Scotland or indeed Europe. The Achnasheen Terraces, a geological site of International importance  can be

found adjacent to the Lodge.

The spectacular Torridon Mountains are within easy reach as is Loch Maree and

a number of other superb photographic locations.

                    

 

Stalking

Stalking is available on two separate beats on a mix of rolling hills and steep corries, and is often described as one of the

best small forests with stags averaging 15 stone, and a number of mentions inG. Kenneth Whitehead's recent book entitled

" Half a Century of Scottish Deer Stalking".

Wild Brown Trout

Wild Brown Trout fishing is available on the River Bran, as well as a number of lochs including Loch Rosque and

Loch Gowan, the latter equipped with a boat. Salmon fishing on the River Blackwater by arrangement.

Grouse

Depending on stocks, there may be an opportunity to walk up a few grouse over a pointer during late August and early

September.
