Fishing on loch maree

Loch Maree is legendary among fishermen, principally because the Loch has produced the largest sea trout in Great Britain and also because it is set in the most outstanding scenery in the Western Highlands. The season is from April until October, the busy period being July and August when early bookings are recommended.

Boat fishing, two rods to a boat with a ghillie provided is from the pier below the lodge. Dapping, wet and dry fly are methods of fishing practised here. Spinning is permitted until 1st July.

The lodge has eight available boats all with a ghillie (mandatory). We are also able to arrange fishing for salmon and brown trout locally when weather conditions and availability permit. The lodge has a well-equipped boathouse for rod storage, a small tackle shop and excellent drying and boot room facilities.

Pit your skill against sea trout, salmon and brown trout on our legendary waters or why not try the hill lochs, river and sea fishing which can also be arranged during your visit.

Hill Loch Fishing is available through the Gairloch and Kinlochewe angling clubs?

Sea Fishing is also available from Gairloch. This is a fantastic day out, not only are there good catches but guests have seen whales, porpoise, otters, seal and incredible varied bird life.
